Forever Yours

ree

When the girl loves the boy

She gives him her all

When the boy no longer loves her back

Her heart is shattered

A million jagged pieces

Sprawled across the floor in shambles

She questions why

Her eyes brimmed with tears like diamonds

As he tells her that she is too bright, too loud

He tries to change her

And she agrees, because she loves him

Eventually she grows tired

Of the plain clothes, the lifeless hair

The subdued nature with which she exists

A life once vibrant, now shrouded in monotony

Something that should have never been hers

And so she learns how to live again

In all her extravagant glory

Utterly devoted to herself and her ambitions

Even if it means that nobody else will love her

Because to her it no longer matters

When the girl loves herself

She looks into the mirror

At the girl they tried to silence

And with a smile on her face she whispers

“I am forever and faithfully yours”
